April is one of the most popular months for travel. If you’re looking for inspiration to choose your next destination, you’ve come to the right place. April is a month of new beginnings: flowers start to bloom, and the weather becomes much more pleasant, especially in Southern Europe. You’ll find plenty of destinations to visit in April, from Japan to see the cherry blossoms to Barcelona to enjoy Sant Jordi. In this post, we share 15 wonderful destinations to travel to in April and the reasons why.
1. Vietnam
If you’re looking for a great destination to travel to in April, Vietnam should be at the top of your list. It’s our favorite country in Asia! There are few better months to visit Vietnam than April. Although the country is very long and has several climatic regions, April generally boasts good weather across almost the entire country. In fact, between February and April, the country receives very little rainfall, making it the driest season of the year.
Additionally, temperatures are pleasant in almost every part of Vietnam, although it remains cool in the north. However, if you travel to Vietnam in April, you can enjoy excellent visibility in Sapa and Halong Bay, as well as great conditions in most tourist destinations like Hanoi, Hoi An, or the beaches of Nha Trang. Ho Chi Minh City has good weather year-round, so don’t forget to include all these destinations in your Vietnam itinerary.
2. Barcelona for Sant Jordi, One of the Best Destinations to Travel to in April
Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Although the climate in our city is never extreme, April sees a significant rise in temperatures with the arrival of spring. Summer prices are sky-high, so a trip in April can be a fantastic option to fall in love with the city.
Moreover, it’s one of the best destinations to visit in April because of Sant Jordi’s Day. If you travel on April 23rd, you’ll experience one of Catalonia’s most important traditions. At no other time of the year does the city dress up so beautifully!
The streets are filled with small stalls selling roses and books, representing the legend. Las Ramblas is the liveliest street, but not the only one. Additionally, many balconies are decorated with roses and Catalan flags. The atmosphere is beautiful!
3. Orlando and its Parks
If you’re looking for a fun destination to visit in April, Orlando will not disappoint. The best time to visit Orlando is between March and May. Why? Mainly because it’s the time of year when you’ll find the most pleasant weather (highs of 29ºC, lows of 17ºC) and the best prices. Always try to avoid the summer due to the high accommodation prices, heat, and crowds in the parks.
Although temperatures, prices, and crowds are quite good from September to mid-November, autumn is Florida’s most active hurricane season, which could ruin your vacation. Without a doubt, April is the best month to travel to Orlando.
4. Japan, One of the Best Destinations to Travel to in April
Japan is one of the most wonderful countries on the planet. However, we recommend visiting in April for one reason: hanami. Seeing the cities and landscapes of Japan with cherry blossoms is a unique spectacle you can’t miss. That said, not all parts of the country bloom at the same time. For example, the cherry blossoms in Kyoto bloom in mid to late March and reach their peak in April, when the flowers are spectacular and the city is filled with an unforgettable fragrance. To be sure, you can check the blooming forecast.
Without a doubt, Kyoto is the most special place to enjoy hanami. As you can imagine, it’s a very touristy time to visit Japan, so we recommend booking your trip well in advance to get good prices. To give you an idea, it’s like traveling in Europe in mid-August, both in terms of crowds and prices. It’s not the cheapest place to visit in April, but it’s one of the most beautiful.
Additionally, temperatures are quite pleasant throughout the country. For example, in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, highs reach up to 20ºC and lows around 10ºC, while in Kyoto, they are similar. Don’t forget to add these two cities to your Japan itinerary.
5. Utah and its National Parks
The state of Utah is one of the most beautiful in the United States. We believe it should be part of any West Coast itinerary, although it is often overlooked. The best thing Utah offers is its incredible national parks, and the best time to discover them is in the spring, especially during April.

Komodo Island is one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia. Every year, thousands of visitors come, in part, to see the Komodo dragons, one of the most impressive animals on the planet.
Although Komodo National Park is one of the driest regions in Indonesia, we believe April is the best month to make the most of it. The rainy season, from January to mid-March, can be quite intense with winds, waves, and heavy rain. But April is a good time of year to see the Komodo dragons. The giant lizards are less active during the rainy months; but in April, the warm and dry sun attracts them.

9. Jordan
In a country with an extreme climate like Jordan, it’s very important to choose the right dates to make the most of it. And April is one of the best times to fall in love with this Asian country! From April onwards, thanks to the winter rains, wildflowers cover the valleys in color throughout the country.
Additionally, the temperatures are warm but not too high. For reference, in Petra, Jordan’s main tourist destination, lows are around 11ºC and highs around 26ºC. We recommend taking advantage before the scorching summer temperatures arrive. Traveling in winter is unpredictable, and there may even be snow in Wadi Rum in March.
10. Koh Samui, one of the best beach destinations to visit in April
If you’re looking for a beach vacation in April, you’ll have to venture outside of Europe. Although temperatures start to rise significantly in the southern part of the continent, it’s still not warm enough for a good swim. However, you always have the Canary Islands if you don’t want to go too far!
But if we’re talking about beaches in April, the first place that comes to mind is Koh Samui. This beautiful Thai island is a true paradise. Plus, from April 13 to 15, you can experience Songkran, the Thai New Year. It’s one of the most special times of the year for the locals!

With the arrival of spring, temperatures start to rise but it’s still cold, especially at high altitudes. However, April is a good month to visit Switzerland because it is considered the low season between winter and summer. And that means fewer crowds and better prices, which is greatly appreciated in Switzerland!
You’ll also have many outdoor activities to enjoy, such as panoramic train rides or trails in the Alpine paths.
Additionally, if you like skiing, while many ski resorts in Europe will have closed, in Switzerland you can still enjoy the snow. For example, Zermatt is one of the best destinations for skiing in April.

14. Milan and Lake Como
Staying in Italy, Milan is another very interesting destination to visit in April, especially for a getaway to Lake Como to enjoy a magical atmosphere. Being located in the north of the country, temperatures in April are not as warm as in other destinations like Naples or Florence. However, in general, during April, the weather in Milan changes drastically from the cold and rainy days of March to sunny days.
However, you should heed the old saying: ‘D’aprile non ti scoprire,’ which means don’t dress lightly because some days you might still need warmer clothing.
For reference, the average daily temperature in Milan during April is 12°C, although it can reach up to 25°C. However, the nights are still cold, with an average minimum temperature of 8°C, so don’t forget your coat as the saying goes.
But most importantly, don’t forget to visit Lake Como. Spring is the most popular time of year for visitors, and it adds even more romance to the area: the weather is pleasant, and the colors of the landscapes are at their peak.
